Education in Peace

“Establishing lasting peace is the work of education; all politics can do is keep us out of war”.

(Maria Montessori)

In Nepal, youths have few opportunities to express themselves; it is therefore hard for them to develop creatively. As a consequence to this fact, they accept the violence and the beating performed against them by their families, schools and communities and they repeat it. This vicious circle has to be broken. The youths are vulnerable, but they are our future, they have the power to bring change. The main objective of this project is to empower youth through a developed model of practical peace education.

Peace from within- is the motto of Practical Peace Education

                   -  Empowering the youth as peace promoter in their communities

                   -  Enhancing the inner peace for making outer peace

                   -  Addressing the root cause of violence

                   -  Appreciating traditional wisdom for peace

With this education we want our children to see how peace is not just a situation without war; it is also a way of living and being. Peace is not static result or a goal to achieve rather peace is a dynamic way and a process of life. To be able to live more peaceful we need to have a holistic understanding of the word and look at all different dimensions of peace. We encourage our students to find their own unique way to peace so that they later can become role models for the whole community.

To be able to get this message across a different education is required. We offer two types of manuals and models of training program.

     1. Core Peace Promoters (CPP)/Core Peace Trainers (CPT) Manual: This is for two weeks trainin program for youth or trainers to become CPP or CPT
